Aboriginal Employee Mentor Program

The Aboriginal Employee Mentor Program (AEMP) is a key initiative within the Aboriginal employment and career development strategy 2021-2025 PDF (15.4 MB).

It is a 12-month program designed to:

  • support a mentee’s personal and professional goals by matching them with a suitable mentor
  • be led by a mentor and mentee so they can form a mentoring agreement that best suits them.

Who can get involved

To be a mentor, you must be a Northern Territory Public Sector (NTPS) employee from middle management (AO5 and above).

If you would like to be a mentee, you must identify as Aboriginal and be an NTPS employee of any level.

How to get involved

To prepare you for the AEMP journey, you must take part in a training workshop.

The 2-day mentor workshops will be held from:

  • Tuesday 11 to Wednesday 12 October in Alice Springs
  • Monday 14 to Tuesday 15 November in Darwin.

The 1-day mentee workshops will be held on:

  • Thursday 13 October in Alice Springs
  • Thursday 17 November in Darwin.
