NTPS Aboriginal employee mentor program
The Northern Territory Public Sector (NTPS) Aboriginal Employee Mentor Program (AEMP) is a key initiative within the NTPS Aboriginal Employment and Career Development Strategy 2015-2020 .
The AEMP was launched in July 2019 and is a 12 month program designed to support the Mentee’s personal and professional goals by matching them with a suitable Mentor. The Mentors are Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal NTPS employees from middle management (AO5 or equivalent and above) trained and registered under the AEMP. The Mentees are Aboriginal NTPS employees from all classifications.
The Mentor will undertake a two day training workshop and the Mentee a one day training workshop prior to the commencement of the program to help prepare them for the AEMP mentoring journey.
The Aboriginal Employment and Career Development (AECD) Division is responsible for the coordination and administration of the AEMP, however the program is designed to be led by the Mentor and Mentee. This enables flexibility for the participants to work together to form an individual mentoring agreement which best suits them.
Please be advised due to the current COVID-19 climate and travel restrictions, the NTPS Aboriginal Mentor program, for Alice Springs and Darwin has been postponed. We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.
