Bulletin 24 - Protected Action Ballot – Professionals Australia - issued 29 September 2022
The Australian Electoral Commission has issued an important notice to Power and Water employees who are members of the Association of Professionals, Engineers, Scientists, and Managers, Australia (PA) and are eligible to vote in a protected action ballot.
The information includes details on eligibility to vote, the ballot timetable, and questions to be put to relevant employees.
Only PA members will receive ballots, and if the ballot is successful, only members of PA can take the protected industrial action proposed by their union. Employees who are not PA members cannot participate in taking protected industrial action.
Fair Work Act Requirements
Employees should note that in accordance with the Fair Work Act 2009 (the Act), employers may provide written notice to employees stating that, because of partial work bans, the employee’s payments will be reduced by a proportion as specified in the notice.
Regular updates in relation to the bargaining process are available on the OCPE Webpage.
If you require any further information on the proposed actions and how they apply to you, please contact your manager or People and Culture Business Partner within Power and Water Corporation.
