Aboriginal Employment and Career Development Strategy 2021-2025 Launch

Published

On Thursday 24 June the Commissioner for Public Employment launched the NTPS Aboriginal Employment and Career Development Strategy for 2021-2025 alongside the Minister for Public Employment, the Honorable Paul Kirby MLA and the Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, the Honorable Selena Uibo MLA. We were delighted to have Aunty Bilawara Lee attend the launch and deliver the Welcome to Country.

The NTPS strives to achieve a public sector that reflects the community it serves through inclusive and culturally appropriate programs, policy development and service delivery strategies. The strategy highlights the NT Government’s commitment to growing Aboriginal employment within the NTPS.

The strategy will build on the successes of the previous strategy and continue to work towards the global target of 16 per cent Aboriginal employment within the NTPS and 10 per cent representation in senior positions. The strategy will focus on six key areas:

  1. Targets
  2. Attraction
  3. Retention
  4. Leadership
  5. Workplace culture
  6. Remote

OCPE would like to thank all staff that were involved in the evaluation of the previous strategy and contributed to the development of the new one.
