Pre-employment screening guideline


The Pre-employment Screening Guideline has been developed to outline the requirements for screening applicants seeking employment in the Northern Territory Public Sector.

Northern Territory Public Sector (NTPS) officers hold positions of trust in the community.

Pre-employment screening confirms that all NTPS employees are fit and proper to hold these roles.

If you are applying for a position in the NTPS you will be required to undertake pre-employment screening.

Pre-employment screening is necessary to ensure the:

  • suitability
  • integrity and
  • identity of people engaged to work in the NTPS.

The Office of the Commissioner for Public Employment have developed a Pre-employment Screening Guideline to assist selection panels in this process.

The guideline outlines the requirements for:

  • screening applicants seeking employment in the  NTPS
  • existing employees seeking transfers and promotions.
