New NTPS code of conduct

Published

The new code of conduct for the Northern Territory Public Sector (NTPS) is now in effect.

There are a few changes from the previous code, most notably that the NTPS values now form part of the code.

These values underpin and provide standards of expected behaviour and conduct for all government employees.

The new code doesn't provide a detailed and exhaustive list of what to do in every aspect of work. Instead, it represents a broad framework that helps you decide what to do when faced with an ethical issue.

Information removed from the code has been incorporated into other NTPS wide policies and is available on NTG Central.

Standards

The code establishes 9 pillars of conduct standards including professional and courteous behaviour, public comment and conflict of interest.

Training

Face-to-face information sessions on the new code will be provided by OCPE over the coming months.

Sessions will be available in:

  • Darwin
  • Palmerston
  • Katherine
  • Alice Springs
  • Nhulunbuy.

Online Microsoft teams sessions will be available for remote officers. Further information will be available shortly.

The Department of Corporate and Digital Development will release a new eLearning package to complement the code. This is expected to be available in September 2022.
