Public sector instruments
Under the Public Sector Employment and Management Act, the Commissioner for Public Employment can delegate his/her powers to the Chief Executive Officer of an agency or give approval for the Chief Executive Officer to take certain actions where specific conditions are met.
The following Public Sector Instruments have been issued which apply across the Public Sector, however a number of Agency-specific Instruments also exist. Contact the relevant Agency’s human resource management unit for further information.

11 | Selection Without Advertising for New Apprentices and Trainees PDF (121.0 KB) Under this PSI the CEO can select without advertising in accordance with section 30(1)(b) PSEMA a person as a New Apprentices and/or Trainee. This PSI also revokes Public Sector Instrument No. 7. |
12 | Select Without Advertising - Entry Level Recruitment - AO1 and AO2 PDF (28.1 KB) Under this PSI the CEO can select without advertising in accordance with section 30(1)(b) PSEMA a person to perform duties that are for a period exceeding six months if the selection is in accordance with conditions specified in the schedule. |
16 | Selection Without Advertising – In Remote Communities PDF (53.7 KB) (amended in December 2009) PDF (67.2 KB) Under this PSI the CEO can select without advertising in accordance with section 30(1)(b) PSEMA to perform for a period exceeding 6 months the duties of a position classified as AO1, AO2, PH1 or PH2 in the specific localities. |
