Future leaders program

This program is an investment in the capability of talented people to deliver strategic needs for the future. In anticipating the needs for tomorrow, it is clear that leaders need to strategically plan for succession in order to enhance capability and create a vibrant and innovative public sector.

Program Overview

The Northern Territory is facing unprecedented challenges in workforce capability planning and in ensuring adequate leadership bench strength to fill future gaps. 

The Future Leaders Program forms one part of an integrated strategy to address the issue of future leadership supply and presents as a unique opportunity for high potential leaders in the NTPS to who aspire to furthering their careers. 

As well as supplying leaders for the future, the program will improve succession planning and promote mobility and learning across the sector.

The program content has been designed taking into account the identified learning gaps from 360° assessments in 2009, 2011, 2012 and the new NTPS Capability and Leadership Framework.

With the busy schedule of leaders in mind, the program has been structured to allow for short sessions over a number of months to ease the need to be away from the office for extended periods.
