Support and counselling

The Northern Territory Government funds an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) to provide professional and confidential counselling services to NTPS employees for a range of issues including:

  • personal and workplace relationships
  • health
  • depression
  • anxiety disorder
  • family disintegration
  • marital problems
  • alcohol and substance misuse
  • gambling and other addictions.

Additional intervention type professional services such as conflict management, mediation, critical incident response and trauma counselling are also available.

Employees can make appointments directly with external providers contracted under the EAS Program or can seek assistance through their HR unit.

Services are paid for by the relevant NTG agency. If after three sessions further assistance is required, agencies may agree to pay for additional sessions.

Services are available in Darwin, Katherine, Nhulunbuy, Tennant Creek and Alice Springs.
