Bulletin 10 - Improved offer for new enterprise agreement - issued 2 June 2026

On 28 May 2026, I made an improved offer to the Australian Salaried Medical Officers Federation (NT) (ASMOF) for a new enterprise agreement to replace the existing Medical Officers’ Northern Territory Public Sector 2022 - 2025 Enterprise Agreement, which nominally expired on 31 December 2025.

The improved offer has been developed taking into consideration ASMOF’s claims, and provides certainty in headline salary increases of 2.7% pa in the first 2 years, followed by 3% pa in the final 2 years, which is a significant overall improvement from the original offer.

The offer also retains the simplified salary spine (providing some transitional increases of up to 14.16%), in addition to all of the other significant improvements already offered. For more details, read the improved offer PDF (354.1 KB).

Key salary improvements

The key salary improvements, in addition to the improved salaries under a new simplified salary spine; new increment points; and removal of progression barriers are as follows:

  • 2.7% commencing from 12 March 2026
  • 2.7% (up 0.2% from original offer) from the first full pay period commencing on or after 1 January 2027
  • 3.0% (up 0.5% from original offer) from the first full pay period commencing on or after 1 January 2028
  • 3.0% (up 0.5% from original offer) from the first full pay period commencing on or after 1 January 2029.

This provides a total headline salary increase of 11.4% or approximately 11.9% compounding over the term of the agreement. This is an additional 1.2% over the original offer and the wages policy.

I maintain that the offer I have presented will deliver competitive wages and contemporary employment conditions over the next 4 years.  It also addresses a number of ASMOF’s claims and strikes an appropriate balance between job security and enhanced conditions for medical officers.
