Bulletin 14 - Yes ballot outcome - issued 9 September 2026
Ballot outcome
I am pleased to advise the proposed Medical Officers Northern Territory Public Sector (NTPS) 2026-2029 Enterprise Agreement was approved by a majority of medical officers who voted in the ballot process.
The results of the ballot conducted by Vero Voting were as follows:
| Response | Number of votes | Percentage |
|---|---|---|
| Yes | 209 | 63% |
| No | 122 | 37% |
| Total | 331 (27% of workforce) |
Next steps
This is a positive outcome as the agreement provides significant improvements to terms and conditions of employment for medical officers.
Now that the agreement has been approved by the majority of medical officers who voted, it is necessary to lodge the agreement with the Fair Work Commission for approval.
The Medical Officers NTPS 2026-2029 Enterprise Agreement will come into effect 7 days after the Fair Work Commission approves the agreement.
The timing for payment of the first salary increases, which will be backdated to 12 March 2026, will be finalised once the Fair Work Commission approves the agreement. Once approval has been received, medical officers will be advised of the payment schedule and when the new conditions commence.
Thanks to everyone involved
Thank you to all medical officers who participated in the ballot. It is important that medical officers take part in the enterprise agreement process and your involvement is appreciated.
