Make your vote count
Every vote is important.
If the majority of Medical Officers who vote, endorse this offer, and the agreement is approved by the Fair Work Commission, this offer provides for pay rises to be backdated to 1 January 2026.
If the vote isn’t supported, the provisions within the current agreement will continue to apply. This means that you will not have access to the proposed improved conditions, including 2.7% annual salary increase, and in line with the NTPS Wages Policy there will not be any back payments of salary increases.
Your pay, your future
Details of the offer PDF (357.3 KB) you are voting on.
I consider this a very generous offer that supports many claims made during our negotiations. It will maintain your existing package of competitive leave and other entitlements, and includes a range of additional improvements such as:
- Simplified salary spine providing transitional salary increases that range from between 7.17% to 14.16% for most Registrars, and 5.31% or 10.62% for Senior Rural Generalists and Senior Rural Medical Practitioners. Medical Officers moving into these streams will also benefit from the improved salaries and career structure.
- 2.7% per annum salary increases, which is equivalent to approximately 11.25% compounding over 4 years, which along with salary increases under the simplified salary spine is the maximum provided for under the Northern Territory Public Sector 2025-2028 Wages Policy PDF (133.0 KB).
- Faster pay progressions through automatic increments and removal of progression barriers.
- Additional recreation leave at 5 and 10 years’ service to accrue progressively.
- New and improved leave entitlements – Professional Development Leave, Leave to Engage in Voluntary Emergency Management Activities, Organ Donor Leave, and Blood Plasma Leave.
- Mandatory day off when moving between towns for rotations.
- Inclusion of Determinations and By-Laws for: Advanced Recreation leave; Long Service Leave; Community Language Allowance; and Northern Territory Allowance.
