Bulletin 2 - negotiations have commenced - issued on the 18 July 2025
The first negotiation meeting for a new NTPS Fire and Rescue Service Enterprise Agreement was held on the 11 July 2025.
This was a productive meeting attended by the United Workers Union (UWU) and their workplace delegates, representatives for the Northern Territory Fire and Rescue Service and my office.
The parties discussed the bargaining process and committed to work constructively to finalise a new agreement. It is my intention for this to occur before the expiry of the current agreement on 7 November 2025, and that any offer will be in line with the Northern Territory Public Sector bargaining policy 2025 - 2028 that was released on 14 February 2025.
During the meeting the UWU and their workplace delegates lodged their log of claims, and work is underway to consider these claims.
The Department of Treasury and Finance provided an economic update, which included details on the relativity of wage increases for NTFRS employees covered under this agreement to CPI.
Cumulative growth in firefighter salaries since 2010 is higher than cumulative growth in CPI
