Staffing numbers

The Northern Territory Government publishes information on the number of staff employed by the Northern Territory Public Sector (NTPS) each quarter going back as far as 2013.

Machinery of government

The October 2020 machinery of government changes resulted in a combination of new agencies being created during the December 2020 quarter while old agencies still existed. That means the December 2020 quarterly report contains numbers for both the new and old agencies.

From January 2020 the old agencies were removed, making annual comparisons between quarters difficult. For the period January 2020 to June 2022 only quarterly comparisons were reported.

From September 2022 the report has been updated and now includes annual quarterly comparisons.
