Kevin Northcote

Department of Education

I was a recipient of an NT Teaching Service scholarship and began my teaching career at Sanderson Junior School in 1989. After two years I became a project writer for the National Indonesian Curriculum Project and worked at the Curriculum and Assessment Branch in Cavenagh street, and then later, SASCO House.

After a year on exchange in Indonesia I worked at Dripstone Middle School, and later moved to Nightcliff Middle teaching Indonesian. I also worked at the School of Languages at that time. After spending some time working in Indonesia, in 2001, I took up the position of head of Languages at Darwin High School, and in 2003 became Assistant Principal Senior school.

I also did a 6-month stint as Principal Darwin Language Centre in 2009. I have written numerous published resources for Indonesian including the ‘Bahasa Bites’ and ‘Mari Menoton’ video series. As assistant principal at Darwin High School one of my main duties is the creation of the school timetable for over 1250 students. I have also helped guide students through their senior school journey, and has many fond memories of watching each cohort graduate from Year 12.
