Marisa Boscato

Department of Education

I am a born and bred Territorian, with a passion for teaching that started as a young girl in primary school.

I vividly remember the excitement I felt when awarded a NT Government scholarship to study teaching at the Darwin Community College in 1984.

Since my first position in 1988, I have been privileged to teach in Katherine, Darwin and Nhulunbuy and was awarded a Master Teacher Level 2 in 2002.

Since 2004, I have worked at the Assistant Principal level in both primary and middle schools, as well as in leadership roles within the Education Department.

Recently, my work has shifted from the classroom to working across whole school communities and at system level, using my experience as an instructional leader to help schools plan and use curriculum that is meaningful to the students in their care.

After many years in the Top End, in 2017 I achieved a lifelong dream to live and work in Alice Springs and was greatly humbled to be awarded the ACEL NT Inspiring Educator Award.

Teaching in the Territory has brought me the opportunity to be a part of the lives of many fantastic students. I have also worked with truly inspiring colleagues who generously shared their wisdom, experience and care.

As I reflect on 30 years of service, a driving force in my work has always been helping NT kids to be the best they can be. I cherish the moments when I see young Territorians rising and doing great things.
