Justina Cross
Department of Education
I arrived in the Territory in the early 1980’s and studied Teaching at Darwin Community College, located at Winnellie. My first teaching appointment was at Wagaman Primary. I have since taught at numerous schools during my 35 year career, including: Don Dale Education Unit, Wulagi, Parap, Durack, Alawa and is currently the Early Years Senior Teacher at Anula.
I have a love of music, sport and technology which is evident in the opportunities I share with students and fellow teachers. I embrace lifelong learning and regularly attends PD opportunities across all KLA’s to maintain my professional standing, as well as keeping current with evidence based practices which I apply and demonstrates aptly in my current Transition classroom.
I reflect on all teaching and learning opportunities with my peers and work towards encouraging inclusive and creative environments for the 21st century. I use STEAM skills such as coding, programming and troubleshooting to encourage learner resilience and problem solving skills. I have extensive experience in leadership and have been a member of several teaching and learning committees during her years of service. I am familiar with teaching and learning policies and legislations, and is an active member of the AEUNT.
More than anything I am a passionate teacher and leader and have high standards and expectations of myself, my team and most importantly the needs of my students and their local community to educate strong learners and grow ‘Territory tough’ students.
