Department of Local Government Housing and Community Development

I arrived in Darwin, aged 2 and lived on RAAF Base. I started school at Parap Primary before moving to Tindal RAAF Base, and attended the Katherine Area School before returning to Darwin.

I went to Nightcliff and Jingili Primary before my first year at the newly completed Casuarina High School in 1974.

I was evacuated on to Perth after Cyclone Tracy and returned for a slightly late start to the school year in 1975, to a town struggling with reconstruction and access to basic services.

My Territory story, growing up in a multicultural community, devastated by Tracy, shaped my life and has enabled me to contribute back to the community through public service.

I commenced my career in Finance with the Department of Transport and Works, then moved to roles in the infrastructure focused areas of Public Works and Transport divisions.

Along the way I obtained a Bachelor of Public Administration, and Diploma in Indonesian Culture and Language from the Northern Territory University. I also undertook the Public Sector Management Program.

In addition, I obtained a Graduate Diploma in Company Secretarial Practice. All of which complimented my personnel and professional career growth.

I spent 10 rewarding years with the Darwin Port Authority, a wonderful dynamic entity through the transition to the Darwin Port Corporation as Company Secretary and Director Corporate Services.

The past 11 years I have been with Territory Families, Housing and Communities.

In 2017 I realized my dream in completing the 55km Ord River Dragon Boat marathon.
