Matt Skoss

Matt Skoss is married to Vicki, with three adult children, Connor, Heidi and Chloe. Matt began his teaching career in 1987 at Alice Springs High School (now Centralian Middle School) and more recently, Centralian Senior College.

Matt has enjoyed several curriculum advisory roles in Maths and ICT for NT Department of Education, as well as contributing to national projects with the Australian Association of Mathematics Teachers, supporting Champions from the reSolve: Maths by Inquiry Project and developing Maths300 professional learning resources. He has enjoyed opportunities to contribute to research projects with ACU Melbourne and SCU Gold Coast.

Matt has enjoyed exposure to leading Maths Educators, fuelling his passion for sharing ideas with F-12 teachers in professional learning sessions across Australia. Matt believes in making mathematics accessible to all students, using kinaesthetic and highly visual approaches. Matt has been making Maths and Sorting Mats with teachers and students, often being introduced as “Maths on a Mat with Matt." He has been actively involved in the Mathematics Teachers' Association of the NT, building the Maths community.
