Chris Day

Chris Day is the Senior Director, Parks and Wildlife Operations with the Northern Territory Department Environment, Parks and Water Security.

Chris has lived and worked in the red centre of Australia for over 40 years.

He first came to Alice Springs in April 1981, to commence work as a base grade ranger, living and working at the Alice Springs Telegraph Station and travelling to and working at various remote parks around the centre.

In May 1983, newly married, he and his wife Fay moved to Finke Gorge National Park (Palm Valley) where Chris took up the role of the Senior Ranger, one of two rangers based at the park at that time.

In 1990 he moved to Watarrka National Park with Fay and two young children and a third on the way, as the Senior District Ranger, among a team of 7 rangers.

At the end of 1994 Chris and the family moved back to Alice Springs to better cater for the education of the children. Over the following years he has worked as the senior District Ranger across all Central Australian regions, before progressing to Chief District Ranger East and then Chief District Ranger west.

Around 2013 Chris became Director for Central Australian Park Operations.
