Power and Water

I started my employment with Power and Water Authority (PAWA) 25th May 1992 with the sewerage section of PAWA. My duties within the sewerage section were repairs and maintenance of the sewer infrastructure across Darwin, Palmerston, Batchelor and Adelaide River. I also descaled the complete sewer system at Batchelor and Adelaide River.

I spent months working on the rehabilitation of the sewer in Tiwi. This was replacing sections of the existing sewer including main line junctions. We tested each property's house drains to ensure that there was no water infiltration entering the sewer infrastructure. We then replaced the jump-ups and top junctions before reconnecting the private house drains.

I moved from the sewer section to water reticulation middle of 1993. This role included maintenance and repairs to the water infrastructure across Darwin, Darwin rural, Palmerston, Batchelor and Adelaide River. I connected the new subdivisions at Durack, Gunn, Bakewell, Roseberry & Marlow Lagoon to the local water infrastructure. The last job I did with water reticulation was to connect the East Arm Wharf to water supply.

I moved on to our land development section in late 1998 where I helped facilitate the handing over of water & sewer gifted assets to Power Water Corporation (PWC) for the northern urban areas of the Northern Territory.

I facilitated acceptance of gifted assets from subdivisions and major building developments at Darwin, Darwin rural, Palmerston, Batchelor, Adelaide River, Pine Creek, Katherine, Mataranka, Larrimah, Daly Waters, Timber Creek & Borroloola.
