Robert Aubrey Bradshaw

Department of the Attorney-General and Justice

I commenced work in Darwin on 16 August 1976 as a junior lawyer within the Commonwealth Attorney-General's Department.

As part of the lead up to self-government, the office where I was working (Legislative Drafting) became part of the NT Department of Law on 1 January 1978.  Subsequently, I have worked in the NT Crown Solicitor's office and SFNT (until 1986).  Between 1986 and about 1997 I held statutory positions such as Registrar-General, Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages, Registrar, Real Estate Agents, Public Trustee, Commissioner of Consumer Affairs, Registrar of Escorts Agents Licensing Board.

Since 1997, I have worked in the policy area of the Department and held the position of Director Legal Policy and then Executive Director, Policy Coordination. More recently, I have been Director Policy Coordination.

My highlights include significant administrative and legislative reforms for the land titles, birth deaths deaths and marriages and real estate licensing offices, legislation for conveyancing agents, various reforms to the structure of legislation and a lead role in many legislation projects and in the NT's involvement in the various Justice Ministerial Councils over past 30 years.
