Srishailam Srinivas

Srishailam known as Sri was born and educated in India. Graduated from the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur in Naval Architecture in 1977 and migrated to Australia in 1990.

Sri served as assistant dock master onboard the Floating Dockyard at Newcastle.

In 1991 joined the NT Department of Transport and Works as marine surveyor and shipping inspector. In 1992 Sri was appointed as boating inspector and engineer examiner. Serving the Northern Territory (NT) marine community for more than 31 years.

The job involved travels to nearly all coastal communities and boat operators from the Queensland to the Western Australian border. Travel was by boat, air, seaplanes, and vehicles.

Appointed as senior marine surveyor in 1993 and principal marine surveyor in 1997. As the delegate of CE took over as the NT member on Australian Ship Standards Advisory Committee.

In 1999 appointed to the National Marine Safety Committee for National Marine Safety Reform.

In 2010 appointed principal marine safety officer and in 2018 manager Marine Safety and Logistics.

Most interesting jobs were investigation of marine incidents involving fatalities and providing reports to the Territory Coroner and Police and attending courts as an expert witness.

Sri is a passionate blood plasma donor since 2015 and has donated more than 100 times.

Sri plans to retire in the Territory.
