Toni-Anne Maree Scheide

Department of Health

I commenced working in the NT Health Sector at the age of 15 years old. I started working in the catering department as a catering assistant at entry level at RDH on the 21st of January 1987.

I wanted to change careers, I had three choices that I thought I would like which was corrections officer, police force or nursing. I took the leap and choose nursing, so off I went. I enrolled and completed my enrolled nursing degree which I completed in 2001. It was here I found my passion and I thrived in the career of nursing. I wanted to expand my skills and knowledge to help advance my career further, so I went back to university and completed my Bachelor of Nursing Degree in 2007.

I have seen many changes over my years in nursing and have enjoyed all aspects of what this career offers. During my nursing years I have worked in surgical, medical, hyperbaric, diabetes, and outpatients, I have also seen the hospital itself change and grow with additional buildings surrounding RDH, and was part of the nursing teams during the Bali bombing.

Working in the NT offers so many wonderful experiences in nursing. I now work in the alcohol and other drugs service, which is an extremely challenging field but also very rewarding.

I am grateful for the experiences and the guidance of many who I have meet and worked with during my career.
