Iris Raye

Department of Health

My career with NT Health began as a dental assistant based within the old dental clinic in Mitchel Street Darwin. Oral Health provided a service to many rural and remote Aboriginal communities as well as isolated cattle stations across the Territory; and as a team we all shared the travel.

Throughout my career in Health I have had the opportunity to provide essential frontline health care services as a dental assistant; registered Aboriginal health worker and practitioner; provide support, coordinate and teach the local health workforce; and lead one of the largest oral health research projects.

I have found all these experiences have enriched me and continue to assist in both my volunteer work assisting vulnerable individuals during natural disasters and emergencies; as well as my daily work as the current custodian of the chief Aboriginal health practitioner position for NT Health.
