Kathryn Lousie Stoll

Department of Health

Kathie was born and grew up in a remote community in Central Australia. She returned ‘home’ in 1990 to work as the sole Occupational Therapist (OT) for NT Health in the Central Australia & Barkly regions, covering 2/3 of the land area of the NT- an impossible job! Her role spanned all ages and clinical areas, including community health, hospital, remote communities, schools, and the Seating Clinic.

Kathie is a founding member of the ‘Very Very Remote Allied Health Professionals’ group, which was developed to provide support, networking and learning for professionals working in remote First Nations communities, laying the foundation for remote area therapy practice today.

In 1994, she took on the newly created ‘Remote OT’ position for Central Australia and later covered the Darwin Remote OT role. Kathie moved to Darwin permanently in 1997 and commenced her current role in the Children's Development Team. This amazing and dynamic team works with children and their families to support children’s development, and help families to work on goals that are important for their child and family.

Kathie also works part-time in a private therapy practice. Kathie has chosen to remain a senior clinician, focusing learning and career development on expanding her skills and expertise in therapy with children. Clinical expertise includes: hand skills for young children with cerebral palsy, mealtimes therapy, family-centred practice, parent coaching, and assessments for autism. She enjoys being an ‘on-the-ground’ clinician, learning and working together with children and their families.
