Department of Industry, Toursim and Trade

I have been working in the NTG, starting as a temp, since 1993 and commenced permanently on the 14th September 1994.

I started as the Admin Assistant to the Director of Business Information Management in Health, then progressed to the Reporting Officer, producing monthly reports for the five hospitals in the NT. My role in health morphed several times which made it interesting, and for many years focussed on the formatting of internal documents and preparing documents for publishing.

From Health I ventured to AGD and was the Executive Assistant to the Local Court Judges - what an experience! My co-worker and I were thrown in at the deep end and had to sink or swim, luckily we are both strong swimmers! My main role, besides assisting the Judges, was to arrange the Circuit Court. This was certainly a challenge, arranging charters flights, commercial flights, accommodation and movement requisitions for 3 people each time and all their equipment.

Some days were easier than others - for my final move, I won the position of Executive Assistant to the Senior Executive Director of Biosecurity and Animal Welfare (BAW) - what a mouthful. What a wonderful finish to my 30 year career with the NTG. My SED, Lorraine Corowa, has been a joy to work for. I had no understanding what BAW did, but was soon on an interesting journey which included working with the Rural Women’s Award and has been a lovely way to cap off my working life! I will miss everyone!
