Department of Education
Thousands of students have been the joy of my career. Working with younger colleagues and preservice teachers has been invaluable and enjoyable. I have made some great friends.
During my career I have seen many changes in the tools used for educating young people. My teaching career began without computers, printers, photocopiers, emails or PDs. All tests, worksheets and reports were handwritten so writing needed to be neat and making changes was difficult. All classroom board work was handwritten with chalk. Mastering typing, computers, overhead projectors and the host of online tools that now support student learning has enriched and increased teacher capacities and educational outcomes immensely.
I have continued to be a passionate and successful teacher as the relationships that are part of the learning environment have been an inspiring and rewarding part of my teaching years. I love meeting past students who are now contributing successfully to many areas of society.
