Veronica Hagan

Department of Education

Veronica Hagan Biography I began my teaching career in 1992 in my hometown of Tennant Creek, where I grew up on a cattle station located 130 km north of the town.

Over the 17 years I spent in Tennant Creek, I worked in various roles, including Years 1-4 classroom teacher, parent educator in the Parents As Teachers Program, Early Intervention Advisor, Senior Teacher, and Special Education Teacher. During this time, I also had my two children, Angus (25) and Danielle (20). Some of my proudest achievements include founding a Toy Library for parents of children aged 0-4, starting mobile Playgroups in four Town Camps, and helping to develop Parent-Run Preschools in several Barkly schools.

In 2009, I transitioned to Acacia Hill School in Alice Springs, where I served as a classroom teacher and later as an art teacher for a decade. Highlights of my time there include organizing an Art Exhibition in 2015, producing award winning artwork with the students for the Alice Springs Show, and contributing to wonderful school concerts. I cherished watching a whole generation of students grow and graduate from school.

In 2024, I moved to the Top End to be closer to family and started teaching a Year 6 class at Forrest Parade School, where I continue to enjoy making a positive impact on my students' lives.
