Michelle Phillips

Department of Health

Michelle started her NT Government working life in Katherine as a receptionist in January 1989 with Power and Water before transferring to the finance and procurement areas prior to the position being transferred to the Department of Transport and Works as part of the ERC recommendations. From there she joined the Department of Lands, Housing and Local Government before making the transition to NT Health where she has been since 1994. This gave her the opportunity to transfer to Darwin in 2005 and this is where she has remained. Michelle has held a number of positions within Health, predominantly related to Corporate Services, Finance and Budgets. She has been involved in a number of restructures, and name changes to Depts. Michelle was also involved in the transition of the Big Rivers region health clinics to Katherine West Health Board and Sunrise in the late 90s, and currently has a small part to play in the transition of a clinic to Red Lily. From Top End Health Services, to Central Finance, RDH and the NCCTRC, I now find myself back with Primary Health Care and the challenges to ensure enough funding is made available to continue to provide a high level of health services. Highlight – meeting and having a conversation with the then Prince Charles during a visit to her workplace in 2018.
