I was born in the Philippines and migrated to Darwin in 1988 as a young Graduate Civil Engineer. Have worked in the construction industry on house building for park rangers and teachers in the remote areas of the NT.

Secured a four-year full scholarship with the Department of Mines & Energy in 1989 to pursue studies in Cartography at the NT University (NTU) whilst working as a Trainee Cartographer for the NT Geological Survey Division.

Undertook and completed a degree in Information Technology at NTU whilst establishing the first computer aided drafting system for the Survey and took part in testing the Internet during its world launch. Led various teams to manage and deliver spatial solutions and digital products to the public.

Grand prize winner of the Battle of the Maps in 2002 in producing the Urapanga-Roper River 250K scale geological map using computer aided drafting method. Positions held in the NTG: Director Geospatial Services, Manager Geoscience Business Systems, Spatial Data Manager, Cartography Systems Manager, and Spatial Systems Administrator. Married to Dr Agnes Ocampo, a local GP, blessed with daughter Andrea and son Royce, now empty nester with dog pets Soobie and Duke.

Thankful to my mother Ligaya and father Alan, sister Leila and brother Ronald, plus our families and friends, to have them as inspiration. Leader of the Flozzies Cycling Group, an active endurance road cyclist, and participates on Gran Fondo cycling events in Darwin and around Australia.
