Shaun Furniss
NT Police Force
I joined the NT Police on the 11th of July 1988 from South Australia, as a 21-year-old, seeking a challenging and dynamic career. The NT Police Force has certainly provided this. In December of 1988, I left the training college in Darwin and headed to the centre, which was my home for the next 12 years serving in the Alice as well as the remote communities of Hermannsburg, Harts Range and Ti Tree. Somewhere along the way I married and had three daughters, one at each remote community I served in, I then moved to Darwin for 17 years and in 2017 back to the centre till the current day. Highlights - Commissioners Commendation whilst serving at Hermannsburg, actions from this formally recognised later in my career as a Cth. Bravery Citation, Remote policing ribbon, National service medal, National police medal and more recently and Cth. Australian Police Medal. I am currently attached to the Territory Prosecutions Division as a Senior Sergeant.
