Aboriginal Employee Mentor Program

The Aboriginal Employee Mentor Program (AEMP) is a key initiative within the Aboriginal Employment and Career Development Strategy 2021 to 2025 PDF (15.4 MB).

It is a 12-month program designed to:

  • support a mentee’s personal and professional goals by matching them with a suitable mentor
  • be led by a mentor and mentee so they can form a mentoring agreement that best suits them.

Who can get involved

To be a mentor, you must be a Northern Territory Public Sector (NTPS) employee from middle management (AO5 and above).

If you would like to be a mentee, you must identify as Aboriginal and be an NTPS employee of any level.

2024 training dates

The following dates have been planned for the NTPS Aboriginal Employee Mentor Program.

Darwin

  • 19 and 20 August – mentor workshop
  • 23 August – mentee workshop.

Katherine

  • 12 and 13 March - mentor workshop
  • 14 March - mentee workshop

Alice Springs

  • 16 and 17 April - mentor workshop
  • 18 April - mentee workshop
  • 8 and 9 October – mentor workshop
  • 10 October – mentee workshop

Nhulunbuy

  • 11 and 12 June - mentor workshop
  • 13 June - mentee workshop
