Bulletin 13 - Improved offer - issued 30 August 2022

I wish to advise I made an improved 'without prejudice' offer for a new enterprise agreement to the United Workers Union on 30 August 2022.

To ensure all correctional officers are aware of the significant improvements I have outlined them below for a new enterprise agreement to replace the existing correctional officer (NTPS) 2017 to 2021 enterprise agreement (the current agreement). This offer is in addition to the offer made on 2 December 2021 (summary of previous offer).

Importantly the improvements are within the NTPS bargaining and wages policy and are aimed to retain and attract correctional officers.

Further improvements

I am pleased to advise of further improvements which I have offered:

  • The term of the agreement to be 3 years
  • Three lump sum payments totalling $8,000
  • Increase the consolidated allowance from 34% to 36%
  • Payment of a 15% allowance (a partial amount of the consolidated allowance) to trainee correctional officers in recognition they enter prisons as part of their training
  • Pay points within the current classification to be amended as follows (see table below):
    • 1st pay point of the CO classification to be removed
    • 4th pay point of the CO classification to be removed
    • CO classification will have 3 pay points commencing at $62,735
    • 1st pay point of the CO 1/C classification to be increased to $69,259 (previously $68,759)
    • 2nd pay point of the CO 1/C classification to be increased to $72,238 (previously $70,090)
    • TCOR 1st pay point will increase due to the removal of the 1st pay point of the CO classification being removed.
  • The current gym reimbursement allowance to be increased by $250 and be renamed as a wellness reimbursement allowance
