Information for applicants

The Northern Territory Public Service (the NTPS) welcomes and encourages applications for vacancies. We are committed to attracting, developing and retaining talented people, and to this end have implemented a simplified recruitment scheme intended to streamline and improve the quality of selection processes. 

Under our NTPS Recruitment and Selection Policy (54.0 kb) selection processes are to be completed within 6 weeks of the date of advertising, and all applicants will be afforded a high standard of candidate care and be fully informed of the selection outcome.

This site contains information to assist applicants in preparing applications and understanding the Simplified Recruitment process. In particular applicants should note some aspects of NTPS procedure which may seem different, such as:

  • shortened job applications;
  • a move away from automatically interviewing all shortlisted applicants;
  • more thorough canvassing of referees; and
  • reporting of the outcome by provision of information to all applicants about the basis for selecting the preferred applicant.
