This page details the role of managers and Workforce Services, Department of Corporate and Digital Development (DCDD) when receiving a disclosure of domestic, family and sexual violence.
For information to assist in supporting an employee through a disclosure, including relevant support services, read manager's initial response.
Role of managers
If the situation has not been reported to the police, you must follow mandatory reporting guidelines for domestic and family violence only.
Report domestic, family and sexual violence on the NT Government website.
If asked, you can support an employee make a report about sexual assault to the police.
Once you are aware an employee is affected by domestic, family and sexual violence, you must:
- advise them of available leave entitlements and support
- take this into consideration if there are concerns about the employee’s performance.
Role of Workforce Services, DCDD
If affected employees doesn’t feel comfortable talking to their manager, they can talk to Workforce Services, DCDD instead.
Some agencies may have nominated contact officers to be a first point of contact for employees seeking support.
Leave and workplace arrangements
Managers and Workforce Services, DCDD should advise the employee of leave entitlements and other workplace arrangements that may assist the employee.
