Achieved actions or programs

  • Supported 349 employees to complete online training through 6 courses that enhance their capability to deliver the curriculum and plan pathways for students with a disability.
  • Established in 2020 the DoE People & Culture Committee to closely monitor and oversee all aspects of I&D.
  • Delivered 41 workshops to 415 participants across the NT in building capability in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on school students with a disability.
  • Awarded 34 teachers (29 from government schools and five from non-government schools) scholarships to undertake an online Graduate Certificate in Education (Special Education) through the Supporting NT Students with Additional Needs Teacher Scholarship. This scholarship helps our teachers develop their capacity to cater for the learning needs of our students with additional needs.
  • Development and implementation of the Staff Wellbeing Toolkit.
  • Performed a departmental wide staff survey to gauge employee satisfaction.
  • Development and implementation of the 2019-2029 Framework for Inclusion for children and students.
  • Supported a diverse and inclusive work environment, with 43 staff identified as having a disability and 238 identified as being from a non-English speaking background.
  • Used resources contained in the NTG Inclusion & Diversity toolkit and promoted to DoE employees.
  • Nearly 300 staff from 10 Palmerston schools attended inclusive practice training.
  • Promoted International Day of People with Disability boosting awareness levels of staff within the department, celebrating and acknowledging their children, students, and employees everyday living with disability
  • Supported 328 teachers and school leaders to complete training sessions face to face or remotely for the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data of School Students with Disability (NCCD) in the reporting period of 2022-23
  • Student Wellbeing and Inclusion Advisors responded to 137 Professional Learning requests from schools between the reporting period of 2022-2023. Providing whole school and targeted small group’s professional learning supporting inclusion and engagement of diverse learners.
