Achieved actions or programs

  • As of 30 June 2024, DIPL has 41 Emergency Wardens and 57 employees being supported through payment of First Aid allowance with DIPL providing contemporary training programs to emergency wardens and First Aid officers taking accredited training.
  • Promotion of ‘Loud Shirt Day’ for Deaf awareness.
  • Representation by DIPL employee, senior WHS consultant on the whole of government Disability Reference Group.
  • Promotion of Hands Up for Inclusion week throughout the agency, and providing opportunity for DIPL employees to attend workshops and information sessions in Darwin, Alice Springs and via webinars. In 2019, DIPL employees attended sessions such as:
    • how to bring a mental health strategy to life
    • mental health in the workplace: practical skills for all
    • building resilience to workplace stress and
    • understanding and building resilience through positive psychology.
  • Promotion of the online Disability Confident courses  across the agency. As of 30 June 2023:
    • 37 DIPL employees had accessed the Disability Confident Manager's course and68% completed the module.
    • 10 DIPL employees had accessed the Disability Confident Workforce course and 50% completed the module.
    • 2 DIPL employees had accessed the Disability Confident Recruiter course and 50% completed the module.
  • WHS staff induction updated to include disability service information.
  • In December 2018, DIPL conducted mental health awareness workshops for all employees.
